In the third quarter of 2017 I participated in the Fulbright Specialist Program teaching for one month in Bolivia at Universidad Mayor de San Simon in Cochabamba. I developed and taught a course entitled ‘Ecological Human Habitat Design: Re-inhabiting the earth in the Anthropocene recognizing that humans are not separate from nature but are part of a living system, i.e. Gaia’. Topics covered included: building energy modeling and LEED; appropriate technology; steady state economics; ecological economics; contaminants and biological health; local food; food security; nature deficit disorder; horticultural therapy; open-source; internet of things; technology imperative; biophilia hypothesis; biomimicry; climate change; GMOs; nuclear energy, weapons and waste; and, degrowth.
